This semester (getting started on september), I have been asked to have a smart-program lecture (a.k.a smart class) exactly on Decision Support Systems class (DSS class).
Also, I have been asked to be a substitute lecturer on strategic planning class (a.k.a enterprise architecture class) for some courses as the lecturer on this course is being on hajj pilgrimage. I expect you come back soon, sir. Your students are waiting for you.
Talking about smart class/program, I have never been in such a class (smart class) before and never known what class/program it is. It is a quite surprise to me, and let me describe on it first.
Smart program means that the delivery language is english and the classes consist of few students and they are the chosen ones. The students in such classes are very special. They are smart, bright, diligent, and determined. . Of course, they proved it and I must admit this. Since the first time i was attending the first meeting, either DSS or Enterprise Architecture class, I readily found about this distinction compared to those regular classes. On average (again, be carefull that this is on average rather than one-on-one comparison), yes they are smarter, better, brighter than those of regular classes.
I have three points of summary on the students:
1) On the content of the subject: yes, they are very good in understanding and mastering it. No doubt about this.
2) On confidence, they generally have strong confidence (again, this is 'average basis and not one-on-one comparison' compared to those regular classes). This really makes sense and easily understandable as they are knowledge-rich students. Old adagium says, the more knowledge the more confident you will be.
3) On english, some of them have excellent english and even better than my (english), i am not ashamed to admit this, and some others need a lot of english practice, especially in speaking. For these students (those who need a lot of practice), you guys, what you need is just practice, practice, practice as practice always makes perfect.
That is a brief overview on smart program. And for my dear students (DSS & EA), i am very proud of you, guys.
